Penny Headed Elsewhere

Brad Penny has had an off year for the Red Sox. It’s been a rough year for the team as a whole, and he hasn’t been able to perform as well as he’d been expected to. The team wanted to put him in the bullpen, he didn’t want to, so he decided to go on waivers. He is still owed about $1million this season. As a result, the two teams that are mentioned as wanting him, the Twins and the Rockies, are going to have to put a lot of money on the table to do that. The Twins are hoping to make it into the Wild Card or even into the lead of the AL Central. On the other hand, the Rockies are right in the Wild Card hunt and are pushing the Dodgers to win more games. Both of these teams would be good for Penny, because he could show off his stuff before he goes into free agency at the end of the season.
