NL Wild Card

After last night’s drama, the NL Wild Card starts to look a little more clear. With the Rockies and the Giants playing each other, there was a big potential for the race to go one way or another. It went all the way to the 14th inning. In the top of the inning, the Giants’ Eugenio Valdez hit a triple that drove in 3 runs, giving them a big lead. But in the bottom of the inning, the Rockies got a run on a bases-loaded walk and then Ryan Spilborghs hit a grand slam to end the game. This puts the Rockies up by four games over the Giants in the Wild Card race. It was a tough loss for San Francisco, however, because when you go into the bottom of the 14th up by three, you’re usually pretty sure that you’re going to win. What an exciting game to watch. Anytime you get extra innings, it’s exciting, but especially when it ends that way in a game with playoff implications.
