The Chicago Bears are having a great season. They have several come-from-behind wins this season and have beaten some very strong teams, such as Indianapolis and Philadelphia. Kyle Orton, a young quarterback, is having an outstanding year, and his offensive line makes the entire team proud. The defense is, as always, strong and ready to take on whomever they come up against. Lovie Smith and his team are just having a great season. But it’s not going to be easy. The Bears have some tough competition in the Minnesota Vikings and Green Bay Packers. They are all bunched up on top of the NFC North with several intra-division games left. Why miss it? You should see a game in person. Check out the Bears tickets available for you at VividSeats!

Yesterday, the New York Giants defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, 21-14. They have had a good year so far, they are 6-1 on the season. They caused the Steelers to repeatedly make big mistakes. In the end, Ben Roethlisberger had four interceptions and was sacked 5 times. The Steelers were also missing their longsnapper, who is out with an injury, and were using one of their linebackers to do the job. He overthrew the ball to the punter, causing a game-tying safety. Eli Manning, the quarterback for the Giants, had a limited game. He was boxed in until late by the Steelers’ defense. Late in the game, though, the defense tired, and Manning was able to jump into gear, finding Steve Smith on a 25-yard throw, in the deciding drive of the game. The New York Giants are again in contention this year and we’ll have to see how the next few weeks turn out for them!
The World Series is evened up today because the Tampa Bay Rays won Game 2 4-2. Now we have split two games in Tampa and the series moves up to Philly for the next three games. The Phillies are certainly happy to be going home, with a chance to win the Series at home, but they don’t want to get overconfident about it. They know that they have to play their game better. They won the first game despite going 0 for 13 with runners in scoring position. They didn’t do all that much better last night either. In the World Series, you have to be able to put your runners over the plate. Tampa, on the other hand, seems to be feeling good about their situation. They have been able to neutralize parts of the Philadelphia game and their pitchers are coming through for them. Since they didn’t expect to be this far in the first place, it probably all feels like icing on the cake. Yes, they have to take at least one game in Philly, but that seems easy enough for them at this point. This World Series has become a very tight contest now, so stay tuned!

After dominating Kenny Pavlik for 12 rounds, Bernard Hopkins circled around the ring and stared out in the sea of faces in the audience and ringside. His face and gestures clearly taunting and provoking the question, “What else do I have to do to prove myself to you people?” Hopkins, 17 years the elder of Pavlik, thoroughly outhandled his opponent, an opponent that just happens to be the middleweight champion. Going the full 12 rounds, Hopkins won via unanimous decision and handed Pavlik his first professional loss. This fight is expected to be the catalyst for a long awaited Roy Jones Jr. vs Hopkins rematch. Click here to stay on top of boxing action.

It’s the same mantra every year but…The US Soccer Team looks pretty good this year. In a recent World Cup Qualifying match against Cuba, the Americans were able to easily slide into the next round with a 6-1 victory. The first goal, coming at 10 minutes, was the first of DaMarcus Beasley’s two balls netted. Head Coach Bob Bradley explained that he was happy with his team’s performance and overall constant attack. The rivalry between Anthony Kim and Sergio Garcia continues. Anthony Kim and Sergio Garcia are going strong playing against each other during the Tour Championship. Garcia is proving to be better putter than Kim, though in general, Kim is not playing at his best capacity. Sure the Two players are still dominating the tournament, it’s just the little slip-ups that are happening during Kim’s play that are costing him the lead. Garcia is up by a three-stroke league over Kim.

A trend to update and rebuild baseball stadiums is nothing new. Many baseball teams have new stadiums to call home and many have rebuilt and renovated the inside. And more updates are on the way. But with building new stadiums comes a cost to the sport and especially the fans. Fans associate their fondest memories of their baseball team with the ballpark. The two go together. The oldest stadiums being used in baseball are Wrigley Field and Dodger Stadium.
