NFL coach Scott Linehan was fired by the St. Louis Rams because he could not deliver the needed victories to make his team successful. While Linehan is let go, Jim Haslett will be in charge until a full-time head coach is hired. Jim Haslett is currently the head defense coordinator. Haslett only had a few words of encouragement to Linehan and his performance as a head coach. Linehan had difficulty getting the Rams to win necessary games. The franchise simply got tired of losing and made the decision to move on with another head coach.

The 2008 Olympics were a fantastic showing of human potential; no dispute there. Records were set and broke. One issue that keeps resurfacing regarding the 2008 Olympics is the age discrepancy of the Chinese gymnastics team. There are still questions out and about about the validity of the passports and documentation used to prove the gymnast’s ages. Chinese officials have been trying to put a lid on this supposed scandal but questions and probes keep arising.

This playoff season will be a different one for Major League Baseball. The New York Yankees will not be making an appearance this year, the first time in 13 years. The Yankees are in for a new era, as are the fans. Maybe it’s leaving the old stadium for the new that brought about this curse, though that’s just too early to say. We’ll have to see how the Yankees play in 2009. But one thing is for sure; October will be Yankee-less for a first time, in a long time.

The New York Yankees will have a brand new stadium to play in come next season. Already being called the most expensive stadium in Major League Baseball, the new Yankee stadium is going to be a world-class facility for both fans and players. The new stadium is receiving bittersweet reactions, on one hand; the new stadium will dawn a new era of Yankee baseball. While on the other hand, the old stadium has its share epic baseball history. The new facility is located directly across from the old one.
