Federer looses two in a row

Roger Federer, the No.1 in men’s Tennis player was shown the way out in the Dubai Tennis Championship by Andy Murray. This was Federer’s second consecutive loss this year. He was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of Australian Open in February this year and now he is out in the first round of the Dubai championship. The 20-year old British player defeated Federer for 6-7, 6-3, and 6-5. This is the first time in three years that Roger is out in the first round. He was the winner of Dubai Tennis Championship for the past five years.

Roger Federer, later said that, the opponent’s play was only average and it was not a reason for his defeat. It was his mistimed forehand shots that were missing the target by two or three meters that made him upset. Federer said that it took only two hours for him to forget his loss in Australia, but with this defeat, it is time for him to reflect back on his play. In the last five weeks, Roger decided to have rest and showed interest in activities like Super Bowl. It was said that he is preparing for the tough schedule ahead, which will get over with the Master’s Cup in November.

Galaxy start their Asian tour on a loosing note

The Los Angeles Galaxy, the American Major League soccer side, who is on an Asian exhibition tour played their first match of the tour against the South Korean team, FC Seoul at the Seoul World Cup stadium. The LAG’s, in spite of the heroics of David Beckham, lost the game in a penalty shoot out, but the 34,000 odd fans who had assembled at the stadium to watch the match were treated with some exceptional football skills by Beckham. The score line showed 1-1 after the allotted 90 minutes and the FC Seoul team won by virtue of 2 – 1 penalty shoot out. David Beckham played with class and precision for all off 90 minutes.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United player was the only player from the Los Angeles Galaxy side to convert the penalty kicks into the Seoul net as the Seoul goalie Kim Ho Jun saved the other four. The former England captain was also instrumental in setting up the goal for the LAG’s as his free kick into the penalty area of FC Seoul found his team mate Alan Gordon who controlled the ball with his chest and volleyed it into the goal. The Asian audiences were able to witness some of the amazing passing skills of the current English international, David Beckham, in this match.
