Almost all the major baseball leagues are ready to play more games in China in a bid to popularize the game among the Chinese people. The first major league baseball games in China was played between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers last Saturday and Sunday and in the second match of the exhibition series, the San Diego team beat the LA side by 6-3. The third baseman of the Padres team, Kevin Kouzmanoff, said that he had very difficulty in adjusting to the Chinese style of food as the Chinese had difficulty in following the game.

Saturday’s game was a 3-3 tie between the teams and on both the days the Chinese fans flocked the new Olympic baseball venue in Beijing and the stadium was nearly full on both days. The Dodgers chairman Frank Mc Court said that he would encourage and support more exhibition games in such neutral venues to popularize one of America’s favorite sports, baseball. The first ball used in the first game that was played on Saturday will be placed at the Baseball Hall of Fame that is located in Cooperstown in New York. The exhibition games were held as a preview to the forthcoming Olympic Games, in which baseball is also an event.
