The Sacramento King players, Qunicy Douby and Ron Artest, interacted with the Grant High School students on the subject of being focused on education and their life during their school days. The King’s players had made a visit to the school to award Jeanette Providence, the 2008 Sacramento County Teacher of the Year Award. The players interacted with the students and explained to them the importance of learning in schools and said that only education will serve the purpose when one attains manhood. Ron said that if he had avoided schools in his childhood he would not be there amongst the students right now.

Artest told the students some history about Douby that he was not a basketball player till he reached sophomore year and his passion, determination, education and love for the game has made him to be a first round NBA pick. Ms Providence and the Grant High School students shot a lot of questions at the players, right from their school life to college life and to all that has happened in their life after entering NBA. The players explained to the students the importance of having a role model in their lives, so that they will be guided to focus on the goals they set for the future.
