Sam Querry wins his first ATP Title
Posted on Mar 12, 2008 under sports, tennis |The Las Vegas fans were thrilled to see the American Sam Querry claim his maiden ATP title on Sunday, by defeating the South African qualifier Kevin Anderson and it was the first final appearance for both the players for an ATP title. The 6 foot 6 inch, 20 year old American, showcased some tremendous tennis skills to beat the qualifier 4-6, 6-3, and 6-4 and later said that he was getting a grip of his game as the match progressed and took his time to understand the hard hitting play of Anderson. Sam said that the final was the toughest match he played in the entire tournament and said that his opponent played an unbelievable tennis game.
Sam Querry who double faulted four times in the first set finished the game with a total of 12 aces and said that he was lucky to get the breaks from the South African qualifier. The booming serve of Anderson had frustrated Querry and he realized that he will have to work on the serve in order to beat Anderson. The South African felt that he was in the match throughout and a point here and there could have changed the script of the finals. Anderson said that he has identified some areas in which he will have to improve to keep climbing the number positions in the ATP ladder.
